Engineer Aamir Khattak, Commissioner of Rawalpindi Division, highlighted the significance of quality and transparency in ongoing development schemes during the District Development Working Party (DDWP) meeting held on Thursday. Stressing the detrimental impact of unnecessary delays on project utility, he urged for timely completion.

Specifically, Khattak directed the swift initiation of the rainwater harvesting and water treatment project for Murree to address local water needs through rainwater conservation.

In the meeting, the Public Health Department presented 13 schemes, with requests for gestation period extensions, including projects in Rawalpindi, Jhelum, and Chakwal. Deadlines for completion were set for drainage and sewerage schemes in Wah Cantt and construction projects in Chaklala Cantonment Board.

Proposals from the highway department, aiming at road construction and repair in Chakwal and Jehlum districts, were also discussed for revised approval. Khattak emphasized rigorous evaluation to prevent duplication and advocated for GIS mapping to streamline development efforts. He further emphasized standardization in development interventions across Rawalpindi and stressed the importance of long-lasting quality to minimize future maintenance needs.

The meeting, convened at the Commissioner’s Office in Rawalpindi, saw attendance from key government officials including Director Development Nazia Sudhan and Director General PHA Ahmed Hasan Ranjha.
