Following a successful debut in Lahore earlier this year, Canada’s renowned multinational coffeehouse and restaurant, Tim Hortons, marked its official entry into Islamabad on Friday, drawing an overwhelming response from eager patrons on the opening day.
Tim Hortons Opens its Latest Branch
The Chief Commissioner and Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Capt (R) AnwarulHaq, formally inaugurated the coffeehouse a day prior, expressing that the arrival of this international coffee chain would add to the capital’s attractions.
On the inaugural day, the three-floor Tim Hortons building in the New Blue Area witnessed a surge of customers, including families and young couples, braving the cold winds to indulge in the signature Tims’ coffee for only PKR 400. Additionally, customers enjoyed a 10% discount on other delectable bakery items.
According to a staff member interviewed by Pakistan Observer, the coffeehouse opened its doors at 8:00 a.m., and the queue of enthusiastic customers continued to grow throughout the day.
The strategic location of the coffeehouse, accompanied by ample parking space, contributed to its popularity. The three spacious floors offer a cozy setting for families and friends to savor not only the famous Tim Hortons coffee but also sandwiches and other fast-food items.
Tim Hortons made its first appearance in Lahore in February 2023, where the overwhelming response required the staff to handle thousands of customers on the opening night and subsequent evenings. Anticipation in Islamabad had been building since then, and the opening day in the federal capital lived up to the expectations.
Huma, a member of the marketing staff, shared that two more outlets are in the pipeline—one in DHA and another in Rawalpindi Saddar. This expansion aims to bring the Tim Hortons experience closer to residents, eliminating the need to travel long distances.
Customers at the Islamabad outlet praised the diverse bakery offerings, including donuts, cookies, cakes, and pastries, noting that the variety and quality matched international standards.
Several patrons shared their experiences with Pakistan Observer, highlighting the adventure of mistakenly searching for the outlet inside F-9 Park and finally discovering it along Jinnah Avenue. The consensus among customers was a sense of joy and relief, with one university student, Nabeel, expressing, “All my tiredness and boredom went away taking one sip of the hot coffee.”
A Canada-returned Pakistani couple, Nauman and Saba, shared their happiness about having their favorite coffee shop in Islamabad, reminiscent of their experiences in Toronto, where Tim Hortons is a household name. The coffee giant’s expansion into Islamabad is poised to make its mark as a popular destination for coffee enthusiasts and foodies alike.
