PM Voes to Take Action Against Sugar Hoarding Mafias

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken a firm stance against profiteering and artificial price hikes in the sugar market. During a review meeting, the Prime Minister directed authorities to launch a comprehensive crackdown on sugar hoarders and speculators. He emphasized the government’s commitment to fair pricing and urged officials to monitor the supply and demand of sugar closely. PM Shehbaz assured citizens that there is an adequate sugar supply in the country, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan, to prevent public exploitation.

Chief secretaries of all four provinces have been instructed to ensure sugar is sold at government-approved prices, while close communication with sugar mills is being strengthened for better oversight. The government’s actions reflect its resolve to protect consumers from price manipulation.

Separately, PM Shehbaz met with leading businessmen to discuss strategies for boosting investment and exports. He reiterated the government’s full support for the business community and announced the formation of a committee to draft an export facilitation scheme. He called for collective efforts to enhance Pakistan’s economic progress and directed relevant ministries to develop policies based on business leaders’ recommendations.

These measures underline the government’s dual commitment to curbing market exploitation and fostering economic growth.
