Pakistan Strengthens Civil Defence Amid Border Tensions

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s Civil Defence department is ramping up coordination efforts in response to escalating border tensions with India.

Newly appointed Director-General Muhammad Ali Randhawa, who also serves as Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Islamabad Chief Commissioner, has directed immediate planning for volunteer training programs to enhance emergency preparedness.

During a high-level meeting at the Civil Defence Headquarters, Randhawa reviewed response mechanisms and assessed the capabilities of existing volunteer teams. Officials from the CDA Board, ICT Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Disaster Management Authority (DMA), and Emergency & Disaster Management (E&DM) participated in the discussions.

The initiative aims to strengthen coordination between Islamabad’s Civil Defence teams and provincial authorities, ensuring swift and effective responses to potential crises.
