Pakistan Seeks Enhanced U.S. Investment Through EXIM Bank Support

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan is actively working to attract increased U.S. investment by strengthening collaboration with the U.S. Export-Import (EXIM) Bank. During the IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings in Washington, Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb met with EXIM officials to discuss expanding financial facilitation for American investors in Pakistan.

The Finance Minister highlighted Pakistan’s recent economic reforms, including achieving agreements under the IMF’s Extended Fund Facility (EFF) and Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF). These measures have bolstered economic stability and created a favorable environment for foreign investments.

Aurangzeb also emphasized the significance of the Reko Diq mining project, which has attracted substantial foreign investment in Pakistan’s mining sector. He urged EXIM Bank to extend its support to further enhance U.S. involvement in Pakistan’s evolving market.

In a separate meeting with the UK Minister of State for International Development, Baroness Chapman, the Finance Minister discussed Pakistan’s socio-economic progress and the World Bank’s 10-year Country Partnership Framework (CPF). He stressed the importance of leveraging technology to improve transparency and efficiency in tax collection.

These efforts reflect Pakistan’s commitment to fostering economic growth, encouraging foreign investments, and building strategic alliances with international partners.
