ISLAMABAD – Pakistan has received $2 billion in foreign investment since the establishment of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) in June 2023, according to Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry.
The SIFC was created to attract international investment in key sectors such as tourism, livestock, trade, infrastructure, mining, and minerals. The initiative was launched after Pakistan narrowly avoided a sovereign default, following an IMF bailout program.
Dr. Chaudhry emphasized that the SIFC has played a crucial role in removing bureaucratic hurdles, making Pakistan more attractive to global investors. He noted that Pakistan’s economic indicators are improving, with efforts underway to streamline investment processes through automation.
Since its inception, the SIFC has facilitated trade and investment deals with Saudi Arabia and the UAE, strengthening Pakistan’s economic ties with regional allies.
This initiative reflects Pakistan’s commitment to economic stability, foreign investment, and long-term growth.
