Pakistan Pushes Investment Proposals with Key Partners

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan is accelerating its efforts to strengthen economic ties with friendly countries by finalizing key investment proposals. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, chairing the fourth inter-ministerial meeting on April 3, 2025, directed officials to prioritize projects in infrastructure, petroleum, trade, and IT.

The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), established in 2023, plays a central role in attracting foreign investments. Pakistan aims to secure collaborations with nations like China, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Central Asian states, targeting sectors including agriculture, livestock, energy, mining, and tourism.

Saudi Arabia has been a prominent partner, with the two countries signing 34 agreements worth $2.8 billion last year. Out of these, seven agreements, valued at $560 million, have already been implemented. In addition, Saudi Arabia pledged to expedite a $5 billion investment portfolio in April 2024.

These strategic partnerships are expected to bolster Pakistan’s fragile $350 billion economy, strengthening its fiscal position and addressing macroeconomic challenges.
