Pakistan Launches First Blockchain-Based High-Performance Computing Data Center

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan has taken a major step toward digital transformation with the launch of its first blockchain-based High-Performance Computing (HPC) data center, facilitated by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).

The project, led by Higgs Computing Ltd., secured a Zone Enterprise license from the Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA), with backing from the Ministry of IT & Telecom and the State Bank of Pakistan. The data center will initially operate with a 7 MW capacity, contributing $1.5 to $2 million annually in foreign exchange, with plans for future expansion.

This initiative is expected to optimize electricity usage and create a supportive regulatory environment for investments in blockchain, artificial intelligence, big data, and cloud computing.

The development marks a milestone for Pakistan’s tech industry, reinforcing its commitment to innovation and global competitiveness.
