President ICCI Calls for CDA Focus on Market Development

President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Ahsan Zafar
Bakhtawari, has called upon the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to channel its efforts
towards enhancing market development works, emphasizing the urgent need for
revamping sewerage, sanitation systems, and infrastructure maintenance to foster business
growth.

Bakhtawari’s remarks came during a meeting with the Director of Sanitation and Markets
Development at the CDA, Mashuq Ali Sheikh, who visited the Chamber House to address
traders’ concerns regarding sanitation issues.
Highlighting specific areas requiring attention, Bakhtawari emphasized the significance of
sectors like G/9, G/10, and G-11, urging the CDA to prioritize these regions for development
initiatives.

He commended the ongoing efforts of ICCI in enhancing market facilities, citing the
installation of water filtration plants and ongoing construction of bathrooms across various
markets as examples of proactive measures being taken.
In response, Mashuq Ali Sheikh assured the resolution of traders’ grievances on a priority
basis. He pledged personal visits to different business centers to assess issues firsthand
and expedite their resolution. Sheikh further committed to completing all pending patchwork
within a week.
Former President of ICCI and Secretary General of the United Business Group (UBG), Zafar
Bakhtawari, lauded the Director’s commitment to addressing traders’ concerns, even on
weekends.
The meeting was attended by various stakeholders, including senior officials from ICCI and
representatives from different market associations, who collectively highlighted pressing
issues in their respective areas.
The ICCI remains optimistic about the CDA’s proactive approach in addressing market
development concerns and looks forward to collaborative efforts in enhancing Islamabad’s
business landscape.
