LAHORE – The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has hailed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s decision to lower electricity prices, providing much-needed relief for industries and households. Industrial tariffs have been reduced by Rs7.59 per unit, while domestic users will benefit from a Rs7.41 per unit cut.
LCCI President Mian Abuzar Shad, alongside Senior Vice President Engineer Khalid Usman and Vice President Shahid Nazir Chaudhry, emphasized the positive impact of this move on economic revival, industrial sustainability, and inflation control. They noted that high electricity prices have long burdened businesses, reducing competitiveness and hindering growth.
The LCCI highlighted that this price reduction would significantly lower production costs, enhance export potential, and attract foreign investments. It will also ease financial pressure on households by decreasing utility bills. Industries, particularly in sectors such as textiles and manufacturing, are expected to see substantial growth, creating jobs and bolstering exports.
Additionally, the initiative aligns with the Lahore Chamber’s longstanding advocacy for lower energy tariffs as a means to promote industrial expansion and economic stability. The LCCI expressed optimism about the government’s continued support through business-friendly policies aimed at sustainable economic growth.
