ISLAMABAD – The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has unveiled plans for Jinnah Square Downtown, a massive residential and commercial hub designed to reshape Islamabad’s urban landscape.
Strategically located between Rawal Dam and Margalla Hills, the project will stretch from One Constitution building to Bhara Kahu Bypass, offering a mix of hotels, high-rise apartments, commercial spaces, and a modern hospital. Inspired by global city models, the development will preserve 60% of its area for parks, green belts, and roads, ensuring a balance between infrastructure and nature.
CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa proposed the concept after identifying underutilized plots during site visits. The project aims to generate trillions of rupees in revenue over the next two decades, significantly boosting Islamabad’s economy.
Pending final approvals, CDA plans to engage international urban planning consultants to ensure sustainability and accessibility. Infrastructure upgrades, including the Murree Road Underpass, are already underway to support future traffic needs.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the project’s pace, calling for timely completion and additional enhancements, such as making the Jinnah Square to Faizabad corridor a model road with decorative lighting and landscaping.
This ambitious initiative positions Islamabad as a modern business and lifestyle hub, attracting global investors and setting new benchmarks for urban development.
