Electric Buses

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is launching electric buses in Islamabad, with 30 buses starting operations this week on two routes: ‘Nust to Pims’ and ‘Pims to Bari Imam.’ The inauguration on July 5 will be attended by either Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif or Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

The first route spans 13 kilometers with 13 stops, featuring 10-minute intervals between buses. The second route covers key locations including G-7, G-6, Melody, Aabpara, and the Diplomatic Enclave.

Part of a larger fleet of 200 buses, 70 more will arrive from Karachi and 60 from China, to operate on 11 routes connecting rural and urban Islamabad. The buses are owned by the National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC), and the CDA will handle logistics and fare payments.

Charging stations are being installed at the Convention Centre and H-9 metro depot. Additionally, bus depots are under construction at Zero Point, I-9, and Tramri.
