Islamabad to Expand Faizabad Interchange and Build New Underpass

ISLAMABAD – Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has approved a series of transformative development projects to improve traffic flow and public amenities in Islamabad.

Key initiatives include the expansion of the Faizabad Interchange, a vital connection point for the twin cities. The project will add two new lanes and widen existing infrastructure to reduce congestion and enhance daily commutes. Additionally, a 2+2 lane underpass at Faisal Chowk has been approved to ease traffic at one of the city’s busiest intersections.

The CDA has also operationalized the long-awaited Blue Area Parking Plaza, addressing parking challenges in the commercial hub. Plans for a sustainable business model for the parking plaza and food street were discussed to ensure long-term viability.

The Blue Area Food Street will feature pedestrian walkways, food stalls, parking areas, and recreational spaces, creating a vibrant public space for residents and visitors. The parking plaza will include retail outlets, a rooftop restaurant, a cinema, and entertainment facilities, transforming it into a multipurpose urban center.

These projects reflect Islamabad’s commitment to modern infrastructure and efficient city services, catering to the needs of a growing population.
