ISLAMABAD – A high-ranking U.S. delegation, led by Senior Bureau Official Eric Meyer from the State Department, has arrived in Pakistan for a three-day official visit. This marks the first visit by the Trump administration to Pakistan, signaling a renewed focus on strengthening bilateral relations.
The delegation’s agenda includes high-level discussions with Pakistani officials on enhancing anti-terrorism cooperation and expanding trade relations. A key highlight of the visit is the participation in the Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum 2025, organized by the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) in collaboration with the Government of Pakistan. The forum aims to attract global investments in Pakistan’s mineral sector, showcasing its vast potential with over 92 known minerals and 52 commercially extracted.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also formed special committees to address the recent 29% reciprocal tariff imposed by the U.S. on Pakistani imports, which is expected to be a critical topic during the discussions.
This visit underscores the importance of U.S.-Pakistan collaboration in economic and security domains, paving the way for stronger ties and mutual growth.
