The anti-electricity and gas theft unit of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has revealed an extensive illegal gas supply network serving multiple farmhouses within the Islamabad Farming Cooperative Society in Sector D-17.
FIA Busts Illegal Gas Supply
During a targeted raid on the main gas supply line to the society, officials detected numerous illegal connections designed to pilfer gas, amounting to ‘tens of millions of rupees.’ The FIA’s team promptly disconnected these unauthorized connections.
In response to a complaint from Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL), the FIA took action, revealing that the illegal gas supply spanned an area exceeding 2 kilometers.
The anti-electricity and gas theft unit have filed gas theft cases against over a dozen farmhouse owners within the private housing society. Suspicions are also raised about the potential involvement of SNGPL staff in the illicit activities. Authorities have initiated raids to apprehend the accused individuals.
This marks the second significant incident of gas theft at a private housing society near Sihala in Islamabad. Recently, a team from SNGPL uncovered a 1.5 km long illegal gas pipeline extending from Japan Road Kangota Syedan Village to another private housing society in the federal capital. The illicit pipeline was promptly disconnected, leading to an improvement in gas supply to the surrounding homes.
