EU to Host Business and Investment Forum in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD – The European Union (EU) mission in Pakistan is set to organize a business and investment forum in Islamabad this May, aiming to boost collaboration and attract European investments into the country. This announcement follows a meeting between EU Ambassador Dr. Riina Kionka and Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb.

The upcoming forum will discuss opportunities for European businesses in Pakistan and strategies to create an investor-friendly environment. Dr. Kionka revealed that the EU has already mapped over 300 European companies operating in Pakistan, emphasizing growing interest in the region. She invited the finance minister to attend the forum, which seeks to highlight Pakistan as a hub for potential business opportunities.

Finance Minister Aurangzeb expressed his gratitude for the EU’s support and underscored Pakistan’s commitment to facilitating European companies, ensuring smooth operations and the timely repatriation of profits. He also highlighted the importance of the Generalized Scheme of Preferences Plus (GSP+) facility, which provides duty-free access to European markets, boosting Pakistan’s export-led growth.

Both parties reaffirmed their dedication to enhancing trade relations and fostering a mutually beneficial business environment.
