EU-Pakistan Business Network to Boost Trade and Investment

ISLAMABAD – The European Union (EU) is set to launch the EU-Pakistan Business Network (EU-PKBN) in May 2025, aiming to strengthen economic ties and unlock new trade and investment opportunities.

The initiative will be inaugurated at the first high-level EU-Pakistan Business Forum, scheduled for May 14-15. This platform will bring together policymakers, business leaders, and investors from both regions to discuss opportunities and challenges in sectors like textiles, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and renewable energy.

Pakistan, the largest beneficiary of the EU’s GSP+ trade scheme, has seen a 108% increase in exports to the EU since 2014. The forum will also explore Pakistan’s participation in the EU’s Global Gateway program, which aims to leverage €300 billion in investments globally by 2027.

The event will feature business-to-government and business-to-business sessions, fostering collaboration and unveiling new projects. High-level participation from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other key officials underscores the importance of this initiative in enhancing Pakistan-EU economic relations.
