CDWP Approves 9 Development Projects worth Rs 33 Billion

The Central Development Working Party (CDWP), led by Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan, reviewed 26 development projects worth Rs. 900 billion. Of these, 17 development projects totaling Rs. 33 billion were approved, and 9 projects worth Rs. 867 billion were recommended to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC).

Key attendees included Secretary Planning Awais Manzur Sumra, additional secretaries, Planning Commission members, and federal and provincial representatives. Projects spanned sectors such as Energy, Governance, Health, Higher Education, IT, Agriculture, Industries, Mass Media, Housing, Transport, and Water Resources.

Approved Projects:

  • Agriculture & Food: “National Agriculture Productivity Enhancement Programme” (Rs. 3000 million) and “Pakistan Model Agriculture Research Center” (Rs. 4000 million).
  • Energy: “Supply of Gas to Localities within 5 km Radius of Gas Producing Fields-SSGCL” (Rs. 1093.439 million).
  • Transport: “Realignment of KKH from Takhot to Railkot” (Rs. 4133.930 million), “Gwadar Blue Economy” (Rs. 1500 million), and “Land Acquisition as per Gwadar Master Plan” (Rs. 3920 million).
  • Higher Education: “Provision of Hostel Facilities for 160 Female Students” (Rs. 617.503 million) and “Establishment of National Institute of Intelligence and Security Studies at Quaid-i-Azam University” (Rs. 1969.005 million).
  • Mass Media: “Revamping of PTVC” (Rs. 1969.920 million) and “Upgradation and Replacement of 300 KW Medium Wave Transmission at HPT Khuzdar Balochistan” (Rs. 1540 million).
  • Governance: “National Economic Transformation and 5Es Unit” (Rs. 2824.35 million).
  • Water Resources: “Feasibility Study of Integrated Development of Chitral, Swat, and Kabul Rivers” (Rs. 1643.81 million) and “Flood Management Enhancement Project-JICA Grant Initiatives” (Rs. 118.606 million).
  • Industries & Commerce: “Invest Pakistan” project (Rs. 1,229.929 million).

Recommended to ECNEC:

  • Energy: “500 kV Matiari–Moro-Rahim Yar Khan Transmission Line” (Rs. 188,563.250 million).
  • Transport: “Revised PC-1 Construction of Lahore-Sahiwal-Bahawalnagar Motorway” (Rs. 435,720.821 million), “Construction of Chakdara-Chitral Road Project N-45 Section III Kalkatak Chitral” (Rs. 10,960.519 million), “Electrical & Mechanical Works for Lowari Tunnel Project” (Rs. 37,257.410 million), “Dualization of Sialkot-Eminabad Road up to Kamoke” (Rs. 10,688 million), and “Construction of Border Terminal at Pak-Afghanistan Border Badini” (Rs. 24,944.80 million).
  • Health: “Quaid-i-Azam Health Tower Islamabad” (Rs. 15,000 million).
  • Higher Education: “PM’s Youth Internship Program” (Rs. 27,691.621 million).
  • Water Resources: “Rehabilitation and Improvement of Left Bank Outfall Drainage System (IBOD)” (Rs. 115,463.500 million).

The meeting, starting June 25th, spanned three days to finalize financing for the next fiscal year’s Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).
