CDA Initiates Crackdown Against Illicit Housing Societies in Zone-4 Islamabad

Crackdown Against Illicit Housing Societies

In a decisive move against unauthorized housing societies, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has initiated a rigorous crackdown against illicit housing societies within Zone 4 of the federal capital. This operation culminated in the closure of administrative offices belonging to Rawal Enclave, an unapproved housing scheme.

The crackdown on Rawal Enclave was prompted by its flagrant violation of regulatory statutes, including the Capital Development Authority Ordinance 1960, ICT Zoning Regulation 1992, and ICT Building Control Regulation 2020.

The CDA has consistently warned the public through newspaper advertisements about the risks associated with investing in illegal housing schemes. Citizens are urged to verify whether a housing society’s sponsor has obtained a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the CDA, after meeting all necessary conditions. Verification of the current status of housing societies and approved layout plans can be done on the CDA’s official website, www.cda.gov.pk.

Moreover, the CDA administration has been advised to take decisive legal action against the proprietors of illegal housing societies. This includes invoking provisions under various ordinances such as CDA Ordinance MLR 63, MLR 82, Environmental Protection 2008, and Landscape Ordinance 5/4.

This proactive stance by the CDA underscores its commitment to upholding regulatory standards and safeguarding the interests of citizens against fraudulent housing practices.
