ISLAMABAD – The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has unveiled an ambitious plan to plant one million trees in Islamabad during the Spring and Monsoon seasons of 2025. Led by Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, this initiative aims to enhance the city’s green cover, combat environmental challenges, and create a healthier urban environment.
Following last year’s success of planting 600,000 trees, this year’s campaign will focus on replacing paper mulberry trees, known for causing pollen allergies, with climate-friendly species like Loquat, Guava, Fig, Olive, and Amaltas. The CDA is also sowing 500,000 seed balls to promote natural regeneration and focusing on landscaping key areas, including highways and green belts.
To encourage community participation, free plant distribution stalls have been set up in various city locations, including parks and residential sectors. Schools, colleges, and citizens are actively joining the drive, showing great enthusiasm for the cause.
Chairman Randhawa emphasized, “Our goal is to transform Islamabad into a sustainable, green city with active community involvement.”
This initiative reflects a significant step toward addressing urban environmental challenges and ensuring a healthier future for the capital.
