ISLAMABAD – The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced development charges on plots in under-developed sectors of Islamabad, aiming to fund infrastructure improvements.
The charges, set at Rs. 9,000 per square yard, will apply to sectors C-13, C-14, C-15, C-16, C-17, E-12, I-11, I-12, I-14, and I-15, among others. Originally planned for sector E-12, the levy was expanded to all new sectors following a CDA board meeting in August 2024.
Plot owners will pay the charges in installments, with final calculations made upon possession handover. However, many property owners have criticized the decision, calling it unilateral and burdensome, warning that it could impact real estate transactions in the capital.
For a five-marla plot, owners will pay Rs. 1.35 million, while ten-marla plots will incur Rs. 2.7 million, and one-kanal plots will require Rs. 5.4 million in additional payments.
This move reflects CDA’s efforts to accelerate urban development, but concerns remain over its financial impact on property owners.
